Zamfara Politics: APC Taunts PDP Following Defection of Federal Lawmaker Gummi

Must Read

The All Progressive Congress (APC) in Zamfara State is making fun of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) because a big political leader, Suleiman Abubakar Gummi, switched from the PDP to the APC.

Gummi was chosen by the people in 2023 to speak for them in the Bukkuyyum/Gummi area at the House of Representatives. He originally belonged to the PDP.

Yusuf Idris Gusau, who talks to the media for the APC in the state of Gusau, said that if someone like Gummi leaves the PDP, it shows the PDP might be having problems inside the party.

“We are not very shocked that Gummi decided to join us because the current leader, Governor Dauda Lawal, is more of a businessman than a political leader,” he said.

According to him, this move by Gummi could make it hard for the PDP when they campaign in 2027 because he’s an important person in the Bukkuyyum and Gummi areas.

“We’ll soon have a special event to welcome him into the APC family officially.”

He also told the PDP to realize that their leaders are not acting like real leaders should in a democracy, saying, “In a democratic government, one person shouldn’t control everything. That doesn’t show real democracy.”

“Many important PDP members and people in power are being ignored without any reason.”

Gusau asked APC supporters to stay peaceful and follow the rules, promising that the APC and PDP will compete clearly for the people’s choice in the 2027 elections and see who really is the stronger party.
