Zamfara governor backtracks on Tinubu’s newly appointed federal permanent secretary

Zamfara Governor Dauda Lawal has received Keshinro Ismaila, whose recent appointment as Federal Permanent Secretary was earlier rejected by his government.

The governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Idris, said in a statement that the governor received Mrs Ismaila on Sunday, praised her for her achievements and pledged to support her as permanent secretary representing the state.

PREMIUM TIME reported how the Zamfara State Government rejected Ms Ismaila’s appointment.

The appointment of Mrs Ismaila and seven others as permanent secretaries by President Bola Tinubu was announced on Friday.

However, the Zamfara State Government said Ms Ismaila is not an indigene of the state and is therefore not qualified to be appointed to represent the state.

Her protest dates back to May, when the state’s Head of Service, Ahmad Liman, wrote to the Head of Civil Service of the Federation that Ms Ismaila is not an indigene of Zamfara and should therefore be sacked.

Although the state government claimed that Ms Ismaila is not from the state, PREMIUM TIMES understands that she hails from Tsafe Local Government Area of ​​the state.

His paternal and maternal grandparents were from the city of Tsafe.

PREMIUM TIMES learned that the Keshinro in her name is that of her husband, who is Yoruba. Her late parents were Christians from the Hausa minority in Tsafe LGA. Her late father was a pastor of the ECWA church and a famous clergyman.

The Governor, upon receiving her, congratulated Mrs. Ismaila and urged her to be a good ambassador for Zamfara State.

“I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate you on your recent appointment as Federal Permanent Secretary.

“This is indeed a remarkable milestone which we hope and pray that you will utilize in the service of our dear nation and also help us in our quest to rebuild our beloved state.

“The Zamfara State Government will give them all the support they need and we are proud of their achievements.

“I am receiving you today to appreciate you and to let you know that on behalf of the state, we are all proud of you,” Idris quoted the governor as saying.
