The Zamfara State Independent Electoral Commission, known as ZASIEC, has decided that local elections will happen on November 16, 2024. This election is for picking who will be the bosses and helpers, called Chairmen and Councillors, in the local government areas of the state.

Bala Aliyu Gusau, the big boss of the Commission, spoke to journalists at their main office in Gusau, which is the main city of Zamfara State. He said that people who want to join the election can start buying special papers called nomination forms from October 25 to November 1, 2024.

Anyone who wants to run in the election from any political group in the state can buy these forms. These groups are called political parties, like teams trying to win in games.

Gusau explained that this meeting with the press was held to let everyone know about the election date and to tell interested people when and where they can get these special papers to become candidates.

He also mentioned that lots of things will happen before the people of Zamfara vote for their local leaders. This means there are plans and activities lined up as they get ready for the big election day.
