African villain and Afro-pop star Yemi Alade's star-studded seventh album 'Rebel Queen', a title that symbolises her bold and unapologetic approach to her music, is set to be released worldwide on Friday.

The album is a melting pot of musical influences and features a diverse range of collaborations.

From the soulful sounds of Ghanaian artist KiDi, to legendary Beninese singer Angelique Kidjo, the reggae vibes of Ziggy Marley, the Congolese rhythms of Innoss and the dancehall energy of Konshens, the award-winning singer promises a musical journey like no other.

Yemi Alade, who describes her music as a fusion of high-life and R'n'B, says the album pays homage to her Nigerian and African roots. With its diverse collaborations and tracks, she adds that it is a unique and powerful addition to her discography.

To justify the collaborations, Yemi Alade says she was specific in choosing her characteristics.

“Angelique Kidjo is an icon and a mother among many special things. I knew she would be a perfect fit for my song #African Woman. Plus, Ziggy Marley was the only person I knew who would understand and execute the goal of my song titled 'Peace and Love.'

''For these collaborations I took into account the main genres and personalities of the artists involved. The album was recorded over several years and in different countries. I really enjoyed recording this album because it was intentionally and proudly my best work so far.''

Speaking to reporters at the event, she spoke about her experience recording the album and her excitement at the reception it has received from fans around the world.

She said: “July has been an eventful month for my team as we hosted album launch parties in Paris, London, New York and Lagos throughout this month. We are creating a space for music lovers and choir fans to enjoy my album privately and exclusively. Each city had its different vibe and similarities as well.”

Talking about his favorite songs from the album, he said that each song had its moment; however, “I would say that some of the most memorable recorded experiences were 'Tomorrow', 'Kilowawa', 'Peace and love', 'Carry me', 'I'm sorry', 'Chairman', 'BOP!' to name a few.”

The Lagos album listening party was attended by numerous music industry players including Wizkid’s manager Sunday Are, Nollywood actors and fans.
