The FCT Command of the Nigerian Correctional Service, NCoS, has picked up a woman named Precious Yusuf. She tried to sneak drugs into the medium Security Custodial Centre in Kuje, Abuja.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Samson Duza, shared this news in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja.

Mr. Duza said that Precious Yusuf went to the Kuje custodial center on Tuesday, July 9th. She pretended to be a visitor to see an inmate there.

During the normal security checks by the officers, they found things that looked like Indian hemp and other harmful drugs. These drugs were hidden inside food packs in a carton.

Precious Yusuf admitted that someone had asked her to bring these drugs to an inmate in the center.

Mr. Duza mentioned that the Controller of the FCT Command, Ibrahim Usman, gave an order. He said the suspect should be handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for more investigation and legal action.

Mr. Usman also warned anyone who sells drugs to stop trying to smuggle illegal substances into the custodial centers. He said officers are always on guard to catch such plots.

He asked the public and good citizens of Nigeria to help the Service in its mission to keep society safe. He promised that people in custody will be kept safe by the Service.
