The General Director of the National Agency for Food and Medicines Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Prof. Mojisola ADEYEYEE has reiterated the call to stricter sanctions for death merchants in society that prioritize a great illicit money to Expenses of the life of their companions human beings.

Speaking in a program on Friday, Adeyeye emphasized that only serious sanctions would effectively dissuade street vendors, especially those who sell lower quality medications.
She cited the case of a person who imported a highly dangerous dose of Tramadol, which could cause severe damage or death, but only received a minimum sentence of five years in prison or a fine of N250,000.
“Who would not pay a fine of N250,000 and continue to commit the same crime? That is part of our problem: there are no strict measures to avoid repeated crimes, ”added Adeyeye. Legislators have promised to associate with NAFDAC to make sanctions by the drug seller much more severe.
While NAFDAC works tirelessly to address these problems, ADEYEYE also highlighted the struggle of the agency with limited personnel and resources.
“With little around 2,000 employees throughout the country (equivalent to a NAFDAC staff that serves 119,000 citizens, based on 238 million population), the agency faces significant challenges to carry out its application duties.”
