WHO Reports $87.4 Million Required to Control Mpox Outbreak

Must Read

The World Health Organization (WHO) says it needs $87.4 million to help fight Mpox for the next six months.

This money will help WHO work with countries, partners, and others to stop the spread of Mpox. They will use the money to do important things mentioned in the global Strategic Preparedness and Response Plan (SPRP), which they shared on August 26.

The SPRP is a big plan made by WHO. It helps everyone know how to fight Mpox together. The plan focuses on watching the disease, doing research, making sure everyone can get medicine, and helping communities understand what to do.

WHO declared Mpox a global emergency on August 14. Because of this, they need $87.4 million from September 2024 to February 2025 to work with others to stop Mpox.

The money will be used by WHO offices all around the world. This will help them to manage the fight against Mpox, give help and advice, run operations smoothly, and make sure the medical supplies are delivered where they are needed.

WHO is asking for donors to quickly give money for the Mpox fight. This will help stop the disease from spreading and keep people safe.
