Zamfara State Commissioner for Health Dr Nafisa Muhammad Maradun has called for urgent measures to address critical health challenges, saying six planned points to revitalize the health system have been outlined for the state.

According to the Information Officer of the Ministry of Health, Suleiman Isah, the commissioner revealed this during a meeting with health partners to review the progress of 2024 and strategize to implement the 2025 AOP that was developed using the sectoral approach in the state.

Dr. Nafisa Maradun outlined a six-point plan to revitalize the health system, emphasizing strategic stakeholder engagement, comprehensive assessment of existing gaps in the health system, immediate action to improve service delivery across the state, robust health awareness campaigns to educate the public, monitoring and evaluation of all health programs, and a concerted effort to build the capacity of health care providers at all levels.

“This is not simply a debate, it is a call to action; the health of Zamfara depends on our collective will to translate our commitments into concrete and tangible results,” said the Commissioner.

Speaking, Dr Raji, World Health Organization Zamfara State Coordinator, commended the state government for convening health partners to review 2024 progress and strategize to implement the 2025 AOP that was developed using the Broad Sector Approach.

He emphasized the alignment of this review meeting with partners to ensure that the implementation of the plan follows the SWAp model “One plan, one budget, one report and one conversation”, which will avoid duplication of efforts by partners and will guarantee the maximization of the use of available resources. resources in the state.

Dr. Raji further highlighted the importance of reviving the State Monitoring and Evaluation task force to improve data quality and evidence-based decision making within the health sector.

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Malam Bashiru Surajo Gusau, urged all partners to prioritize the accuracy and integrity of data.

He emphasized the crucial role of well-trained data handlers in enabling effective planning, implementation and evaluation of health programs within the state.
