Video: No sector has cheated the church more than the music industry: Pastor Oyakhilome

The popular cleric and founder of the Embassy of Christ, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, has affirmed that no sector has cheated and exploited the church more than the music industry in the last four or five decades.

In a viral video of his sermon to the congregation, the cleric lamented that many people in the music industry began their careers in the church, often as members of the choir or praise leaders, but finally used the platform to launch into the secular world.

He pointed out that, instead of significantly contributing to the ministry, such individuals only took advantage of the Church to gain popularity and financial advantage.

He claimed that some even began their own ministries or commercial companies, not due to spiritual conviction, but as a strategy to generate influence and income.

Pastor Chris also expressed concern that many of these individuals, once exposed to external influences, returned to church with behaviors and mentally affected others in the congregation.

He warned shepherds that they would not trust sensitive aspects of the ministry, particularly music, to those whose intentions can be selfish instead of being spiritually driven.

He said: “Probably in the last 40–50 years, no one has cheated the church as the music industry. What most of them have done was to use the church. If you look at the story, long before the 50 years I just mentioned, you will see many worldly singers who began in the church.

“They were in the choir, they were giving praise, but they ended up in the world. All they did once was to use the Church. They used the church to become popular. Or they begin a church with that opportunity or find a way to use that opportunity to earn money. Satan enters their minds to give them ideas about how to make the opportunity he gives them in the house of God for financial reasons.

“I have told you that you no longer have any opportunity, otherwise you will go to hell. I am trying to save them, many of them who would not go to church. They do not know the message. They are exposed to poetic skills. Most of the things they write, sinners can write them.

“Then, when I began to see the same sign of what was out there, which I was trying to protect many of them, because once they started out, they began to collect the same spirit from the outside and returned to attract others to behave in the same way.

“While I look at the churches, I see and say that the shepherds do not give this most important aspect of the ministry to those whose only wishes are to take advantage of the Church.”
