The vandals have damaged a 24 -inch gas pipe located in the area of the local government of the southern IJAW of the State of Bayelsa.
Daily Post reports that the OGBOINBIRI/24 -inch Obiobi gas pipe is among the Angiama and Angiamagbene communities.
The State Information and Orientation Commissioner, Ebiuwou Koku-Obiyai, who confirmed the incident in a statement on Friday, described the damage to installation as criminal damage and economic sabotage.
According to him, the state government was working with security agencies to ensure that those responsible are arrested
“The public must take into account that the protection of national assets is a collective responsibility, and we urge all citizens to be attentive and inform any suspicious activity around public assets to the agencies of application of the law.
“The damage to public assets not only results in the loss of income for federal, state and local governments, but also raises serious environmental hazards.
“Exposure to natural gas and petrochemicals can constitute significant health challenges for citizens,” he said.
Koku-Obiyai urged young people in the state to resist temptation to participate in destructive activities and, instead, work with the administration to maintain peace and protect public infrastructure.
In addition, he declared that together, they could achieve the government's prosperity agenda and develop infrastructure to attract investments.
The commissioner accuses young people to work together to ensure the safety of their public assets and avoid future economic sabotage events.

Five days later, an explosion was reported in the Soku gas pipe along the Soku-Elok export terminal (ABUA) -Rumuji-Bonny in the state of Rivers.
