Former US President and Republican candidate, Donald Trump, will have an outdoor rally on Wednesday in North Carolina. This is the first time he is doing an outdoor rally since someone tried to hurt him at another outdoor event a month ago.
US news reports say that more security measures are in place for this rally. This event will be at an aviation museum in Asheboro, North Carolina, and there will be bulletproof glass around Trump’s stage.
The Secret Service, which is the group that protects presidents, said Trump should stop doing outdoor rallies after a person shot at him at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The shooter hurt Trump’s ear and unfortunately, someone in the crowd also died.
Since the shooting, Trump has had about a dozen indoor rallies. But he says he wants to do outdoor events again.
On July 31, he told his supporters at an indoor rally in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, “we’re not giving up the outdoor rallies.”
A few days before that, Trump, who is 78 years old, posted on social media that he will keep having outdoor rallies. He said, “The Secret Service will increase their protection. They can do it well.”
