Urgent Action Needed: High HIV and Infectious Disease Rates Among Adolescents – CIHP

Must Read

The Centre for Integrated Health Programs (CIHP) is worried about the problems teenagers face today. Many young people deal with HIV and other diseases, mental health problems, substance abuse, and can’t easily get health services.

In a statement, Dr. Bolanle Oyeledun, the Chief Executive of CIHP, said it’s important for experts to talk about the difficulties young people struggle with and find ways to help them, especially when it comes to health care.

She mentioned that this group of young people is very important but often ignored. They need long-lasting plans to help them grow and succeed.

The statement read, “Being a teenager is a crucial time in life with many physical, emotional, and social changes. In Nigeria, teenagers and young people face lots of issues like high rates of HIV, other diseases, mental health problems, substance abuse, and limited access to reproductive health services.”

“Our discussion will look at ways to help teenagers with education in science and technology, job training, and leadership programs. We will also talk about how technology can help improve health and mental well-being for young people.”

“The goal of the event is to work together, share knowledge, and come up with a big plan that supports teenagers’ needs. We hope these discussions will lead to real action plans and partnerships to make the lives of young Nigerians better.”
