The Board of Directors (BoT) of the University of Ilorin Alumni Association has called for a ceasefire by the warring factions of the Alumni group.
A statement from the President, Hon. Mrs Cecilia Cook also commended the Vice-Chancellor, Professor AbdulWahab Egbewole, for several notable achievements in his position, noting that developmental strides are common in the school.
The Board, although seeking to improve the image of its alma mater, expressed its discontent over the rupture in the national Alumni Association and the resulting negative effect on the image of the university community and the Association itself.
“In order to permanently resolve the conflict between the opposing parties, the Board hereby dictates to them a ceasefire, particularly, on online platforms, newspaper pages and on any other platforms that warrant it,” Cook said. .

“With this, the Board expresses its willingness to collaborate with the government council to resolve the crisis before the end of the first quarter of 2025, God willing.”
However, it has ordered all opposition parties to obey the directive and wait for further directives from the Board before the end of February 2025.
“The Board will certainly deliver a printed copy of the statement to the offices of the Vice Chancellor and the President of the Council in order to carry the message to the university community and the council, in particular.
“The Board will seriously contact personalities like Dr. Olawale Fasakin, Professors Kilani, Durosaro, Jeleel Ojuade and others relevant to the matter.
“The Board wishes all parties involved to be patient and hopeful that we will see an end to the crisis in due time,” he said.
