On Tuesday, in Orji, a place in Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State, something very frightening happened. Some unknown men with guns killed a young man.
This happened just one day after four police officers and a person who runs a small money kiosk were killed in Irete, which is in Owerri West LGA of the same state.
People said that the gunmen fired their guns into the sky as they went towards Owerri-Enugu Road. They also burned a vehicle from the Imo State Government Waste Management Agency at Nkwo Orji Market in Owerri North LGA.
Witnesses heard the gunmen shouting, “Stay in your homes. Don’t come out during the sit-at-home if you value your lives.”
The market quickly turned chaotic as sellers and buyers ran away, leaving their goods and cars behind to find safety.
Henry Okoye, the State Police Public Relations Officer, responded by saying that many police officers have been sent to Orji.
“The situation is now under control. The people who did this will definitely be caught,” he said.
