Ukraine in fire: Trump threatens Russia with sanctions, tariffs

The president of the United States, Donald Trump, warned that he would increase the pressure on Russia through sanctions and rates unless he accepts a high fire and a peace agreement with Ukraine.

In a publication about Truth Social on Friday, Trump went directly to both nations, asking for immediate negotiations.

“Based on the fact that Russia is absolutely 'hitting' Ukraine on the battlefield at this time, I am strongly considering large -scale bank sanctions, sanctions and tariffs on Russia until a fire agreement and final agreement on peace are reached. For Russia and Ukraine, it arrives at the table right now, before it is too late.

Remember that the Biden administration had previously imposed sanctions on Russia after its invasion of Ukraine three years ago.

However, Trump has faced criticism for what some perceive as an indulgent position towards Russian President Vladimir Putin, even while continuing efforts to negotiate a resolution to war. He has also repeatedly stated that Ukraine began the conflict.

Trump's statement occurred only a few hours after Russia launched a large -scale assault on Ukraine, shooting 261 missiles and drones in energy and gas infrastructure in multiple regions, according to Ukrainian officials.

Meanwhile, the Trump administration this week stopped military aid and the exchange of intelligence with Ukraine. The measure followed a heated confrontation last week at the Oval office between Trump, Vice President JD Vance and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
