U.S. President Joe Biden Withdraws from Reelection Citing Health and Age Concerns

Must Read

US President Joe Biden has decided not to run for reelection. Some people in his party were worried about his mental sharpness and his chances of beating Donald Trump. Now, the presidential race is a bit uncertain.

On Sunday, Biden posted on X that he will keep being the President and commander-in-chief until his term ends in January 2025. He also said he will talk to the nation this week.

“It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as your President. Even though I wanted to run again, I think it’s best for my party and the country to step down and focus on my duties for the rest of my term,” Biden said.

By deciding not to run again, Biden is giving the opportunity for Vice President Kamala Harris to go for the top job. She would be the first Black woman to do so in the history of the United States.

Biden, who is 81 years old, did not mention Kamala Harris when making his announcement.
