Two-Story Building Collapses in Umuahia

Must Read

A building with two floors in Amangwu Ohokobe Ndume, Umuahia North, Abia State, fell down while it was being built.

The building had just gotten its roof, but on Saturday evening, it fell down. Luckily, no one was working inside at the time, so no one got hurt.

We don’t know for sure why the building fell down, but some people living nearby think it happened because the builders used bad materials. Others think it was because the work wasn’t watched carefully.

The people nearby said the workers were going to start fixing up the inside right after the roof was finished. But luckily, they moved this work to another day.

Nkechi, who lives in Ohokobe, said, “Changing the workday turned out to be a good thing for the workers. If they were in there when it happened, who knows what could have happened to them?”

She also mentioned that the person in charge of the building work disappeared after the building fell.

In June, there was another sad event where a building with three floors fell down in Obingwu, Ukwa West, Abia. Five workers lost their lives in that incident.
