On Sunday, some people with guns attacked PoS operators in Umuahia. PoS means Point of Sale, where people go to get money.
The first attack happened on Uzuakoli Road. Later, the robbers went to another part of town.
An eyewitness, a bus driver, said he saw the robbers come with a tricycle. They fired shots in the air to scare people away. Then, they demanded money from the PoS operators.
One PoS operator was shot because he didn’t give his money fast enough. The robbers then left quickly, making everyone scared.
Later, the robbers attacked another PoS dealer on Azikiwe-Ikot Ekpene Road and near the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) area of town.
The noise of their gunshots was so loud that it got the attention of the police. The police officers from Abia State rushed to the place, making the robbers run away. We don’t know if the robbers managed to steal money or not. However, ABN TV Umuahia reported that two PoS operators were injured and are now in the hospital for treatment.
The Abia State Police spokesperson, ASP Maureen Chinaka, confirmed the news on Sunday evening. She said, “Yes, this happened, but the police are working on it, and an investigation is ongoing.”
