Two teenagers are in the hospital after something very bad happened outside a school in west London. One of them got hurt very badly, and it might change their life forever.
On Monday afternoon, near Westminster Academy, someone threw a harmful liquid at students and a teacher.
The police said a 14-year-old girl got hurt very badly and is in the hospital. A 16-year-old boy also got hurt, but he is going to be okay. His injuries are not as serious.
A third person, a 27-year-old woman, was also hurt but has already left the hospital. Her injuries won’t change her life.
The police are checking what the liquid was, but they think it was something acidic. They are trying very hard to find out who did this and arrest them.
Numera Anwar, the principal of Westminster Academy, said she is very worried for the students, staff, and everyone around. She called it a very sad and scary event where a harmful liquid was thrown.
She said it happened outside the school when students and staff were leaving for the day.
“We closed the school on Tuesday to investigate properly and make sure it is safe for everyone to come back,” Anwar added.
This kind of attack has been happening more often in the UK. People have been using harmful liquids to hurt others, and it’s very scary. This got worse again in 2022.
London has seen more violence among teenagers. There have been more knife attacks and shootings. In July, a 15-year-old boy was shot and killed in a park near where this attack happened.
Westminster City Council leader Adam Hug said the attack was “really shocking” and promised to work with the police to help the affected school and community.
Two police officers who went to the scene also felt sick and went to the hospital, but they were okay and not seriously hurt.
The police have set up many areas to check for clues and investigate what happened.
