Two Charged with Allegedly Impersonating Naval Officers

Must Read

On Friday, two people named Lekan Abiola and Timileyin Olaniyan went to court in Ibadan, Nigeria. They were in trouble for pretending to be navy officers. This is like dressing up as a superhero when you’re not one.

Both of them, who are 28 years old, do not have a permanent home. They were accused of working together and pretending they were in the military.

When asked if they did it, both Abiola and Olaniyan said they did not.

Before this, a police officer named ASP Anthony Igori told the court what happened. He said these two men did this on September 21, around noon, at a place called World Best Hotel in Ibadan.

Igori explained that they wore clothes that looked like the ones real navy people wear. They even had ID cards that all navy people have.

Moreover, Igori said they also had some very serious objects with them, like bullets for an AK 47 gun, an electric pistol, and knives. It seemed like they had plans to do something bad.

According to Igori, these actions were against the rules, specifically Sections 109 and 430 of the Oyo State’s laws made in the year 2000.

The judge, named Mr. Olaolu Olanipekun, said Abiola and Olaniyan could be free for now if they pay 200,000 naira each and bring someone who promises they’ll come back to court. The next court meeting was set for December 4, so everyone can continue talking about what happened.
