The Lagos Police caught two men named Chiagoziem Obi and Joseph Nkpokpo. They are accused of taking chairs without permission. These chairs are worth a lot of money, about N9.6 million!
Both men went to court because of this. They stood in front of Magistrate A. Alade. The court said they did two bad things: they planned together to take the chairs and then they took them. But the two men said, “We didn’t do it!”
There was a police officer named Inspector Esther Adesulu who told the judge what happened. She said that Chiagoziem and Joseph took the chairs on September 21. This happened at a place called Olojo Drive in Ojo Lagos.
These chairs are called “Airport chairs,” and Mr. James Uzomiwu said these chairs belong to him. He was very upset because they were very expensive and important to him.
The police said that by taking these chairs, the two men broke some important rules in the Lagos law from 2015. These rules are like the rules we have in school. They are about not taking things that aren’t yours and not working with others to do bad things.
The judge, Magistrate Alade, decided to let the men go home for now, but they must promise to come back to court. She said they need to pay some money to make this promise strong. Each man has to pay N1 million and also have two people who say “We promise they will come back to court.” This court meeting will continue on October 17.
