Security forces on Saturday foiled an attack on residents of Giwa Local Government Area of ​​Kaduna State.

The Nigerian Army revealed this on Monday in a statement published on its official X site.

“Troops deployed on special patrols to ensure a peaceful and safe environment for all residents have eliminated a terrorist identified as a cohort of a notorious terrorist commander known as Buharin Yadi, who was eliminated by the troops in a recent encounter,” he said. the army in the statement.

PREMIUM TIMES reported how a terror kingpin, Mr. Yadi, was killed by the Nigerian security forces, as revealed in a statement by the state commissioner of the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, on Thursday.

Aruwan said Yadi was “one of the deadliest bandit leaders who terrorized northern Nigeria in the last decade and who met his bitter end at the hands of security forces.”

On Monday, the military said one of Yadi’s accomplices, identified as Daushe, was killed in “a proactive measure to safeguard the lives and properties of citizens” in Kidandan community in Giwa LGA.

“The terrorist met his waterloo when troops on a combat patrol towards Kidandan, a village in Giwa LGA, saw him speeding on a motorcycle, in an attempt to evade the approaching patrol. Vigilant troops quickly pursued the terrorist, causing him to abandon his motorcycle and flee to a nearby settlement.

“Undeterred, the troops continued to follow the fleeing terrorist until they managed to catch and neutralize him as they frantically attempted to escape into the bush on the outskirts of the community. While searching the area, the troops recovered the neutralized terrorist’s abandoned motorcycle, two bags containing corn flour and a mobile phone,” the army statement said.

“Further verification by intelligence community agents confirmed the identity of the terrorist, as one Daushe, a known cohort of Buharin Yadi, who had recently been neutralized by troops in the same area.

“The quick and coordinated efforts of law enforcement have once again averted a potential threat to the community.

“Currently, troops maintain a strong presence in the area to ensure a smooth and hassle-free Sallah celebration in Giwa Local Government Area,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, terrorists on Sunday killed six people when they invaded Dudun Doki in Gwadabawa Local Government Area of ​​Sokoto State.

Residents said the attackers invaded the community around 1:30 am and kidnapped some residents.

Sokoto police spokesperson Ahmed Rufa’i confirmed the deaths in the midnight attack.

He said six bodies had been recovered but police had not yet determined the number of people kidnapped.

Sokoto and Kaduna are located in the northwestern region of Nigeria and are terrorized by armed people locally called bandits.

The bandits maintain camps in a large forest that straddles Zamfara, Katsina, Kaduna and Niger states. They have carried out large-scale kidnappings of students from schools in the area.
