A tricycle operator identified as UDE Nkama has been arrested in ABA for allegedly fusing with the belongings of a passenger.
He was arrested by the union of tricycle operators of the state of Abia, Astopu, ABA area, Thursday.
The incident occurred after a dispute, during which the operator fled with the passenger belongings.
According to the union, instead of informing the matter through the right channels, the operator decided to have escaped with the property of the passenger, an act that contravenes both the code of conduct of Astopu and the state law.
A quick investigation led by Astopu operations director Felix Obioma Nwaguru, gave the operator an ultimatum 24 hours to return stolen articles. However, he challenged the order of the regulatory body.
Finally, he was arrested by a vigilant ticket officer of the ABA South Chapter of La Unión, who identified the registration of the tricycyclist who flees.
When commenting on the matter, the Zonal President of Astopu, Victor Azubuike, assured the public that tricycle operators throughout the state of Abia would continue to maintain the highest integrity standards and prioritize the safety of passengers according to the union policy.
