Naija Star Search has certainly been an exciting season.
As the grand finale approaches on Saturday at 8pm on StarTimes Nollywood Plus channel, it is time to reflect on the highlights of the competition and the raw talents that have graced our screens.
The winner of the show will receive N20 million and other prizes as well as the opportunity to work with some of the industry’s leading Afrobeats personalities.
The first season was a revelation. Music fans witnessed the blossoming of budding talents under the guidance of industry titans like Keke Ogungbe, ID Cabasa and Asha Gangali.
After three months of drama, intrigue and electrifying performances by contestants of Nigeria’s first-ever Afrobeats competition and talent show, ‘Naija Star Search’, Skimzo emerged as the winner of Season 1 in November 2022.
One of the highlights of this season has been the impressive vocal prowess of many of the contestants. The talent pool has been wide ranging, from soulful Afrobeat ballads to energetic Afrobeat anthems. The judges (Cobhams Asuquo, Sasha P and Vector) have played a crucial role in shaping the contestants’ trajectories.

Cobhams was visibly moved by the exceptional talent of the top five contestants. Addressing them with a sense of urgency during the live show, he emphasised the historic importance of their moment, stating: “You are making history right now, and Naija Star Search is a crucial chapter in the history of Afrobeats. This is your chance to capture the spotlight. You have demonstrated extraordinary skills, but it is time to leave the amateur label behind and become the stars you are destined to be.”
Grand Finale The Top Five Contestants
The second season of Naija Star Search is reaching its climax as the grand finale approaches. The top five contestants – HighCap, Blakk, Clement Daniel, Alaye Baba and Accolade TMP – are set to compete for the grand prize. Each finalist has brought their unique musical style to the stage, captivating the audience in their own way.
The competition is intense, from Accolade TMP’s high-energy performances to Blakk’s soulful vocals and Clement Daniel’s signature vibes. The decision of who will be crowned the ultimate winner is now in the hands of the viewers and judges, which promises an exciting showdown.
Cobhams described the show in an interview with PREMIUM TIMES as more than just a musical competition.
