President Bola Tinubu has made some changes to his group of helpers called the cabinet. He said goodbye to five ministers and welcomed seven new ones to help run the government better.
The President gave 10 of his ministers different jobs to do and picked seven new people to become ministers, but they need to be approved by the Senate first.
Some ministers who left their jobs are Uju-Ken Ohanenye, who used to work for Women Affairs, Lola Ade-John, who dealt with Tourism, Tahir Mamman from Education, Abdullahi Gwarzo from State for Housing and Urban Development, and Jamila Ibrahim from Youth Development.
For the new team, President Tinubu chose Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu to help with foreign countries as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Nentawe Yilwatda to help with Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction. This change means Betta Edu is no longer working in the same role as before.
Other new ministers include Maigari Dingyadi, who will help with jobs as Minister of Labour and Employment, and Jumoke Oduwole, who will look after Industry. There is also a new department called the Ministry of Livestock Development, and Idi Maiha will be in charge there. Yusuf Ata will help with homes in the State for Housing and Urban Development, and Suwaiba Ahmad will help with Education.
The President also made Shehu Dikko the head of sports in Nigeria by making him Chairman of the National Sports Commission.
Sunday Akin Dare will talk to people about what the government is doing. He is the new Special Adviser to the President on Public Communication and Orientation. He will work from the Ministry of Information and National Orientation.
The President thanked the ministers who are leaving for doing good work for the country. He hopes they do well in whatever they do next.
Finally, he told the new and old ministers to think about their jobs as helping the country and encouraged them to work hard.
