Tinubu designates the Governing Council for Iyin Ekiti Varsity Federal as Otukpo obtains a new pro-chancellor

President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of the Proejifler, the members of the Governing Council and the main officers of the newly established University of Technology and Environmental Sciences in Iyin Ekiti, Ekiti State.

Leading the University Council of the University is Senator Binta Masi Garba, who has been appointed Pro Chancellor and President. An experienced policy, businesswoman and administrator, Senator Garba represented Adamawa North in the Senate from 2015 to 2019 and previously served in the House of Representatives from 1999 to 2011.

Other members of the Governing Council include: Prof. Joseph Olurotimi Sanya; Mr. Efe Emefienin Emmanuel; Dr. Joyce Ogunyemi; and Alhaji Dahiru Abdullahi Ruma.

The main officers of the University are: Prof. James Olugbenga Aibisala (Vice Chancellor), Mr. Oluwole Olalere Dada (Registrar), Mrs. Adeniyi Razael Ajayi (Bursar) and Prof. Isaac Oluwadare Busayo (librarian).

President Tinubu acknowledged the efforts of Senate leader Michael Opeyemi Bamidele by advocating the establishment of the university in Iyin Ekiti. He urged newly appointed officials to take advantage of their experience to promote academic excellence, innovation and research.

According to a Bayo Onanuga statement, special advisor to the president (information and strategy), the University will admit its first student cohort in September 2025.

In addition, President Tinubu has appointed Professor Muhammed Salihu Audu as Pro Foreignrs and President of the Governing Board of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo, State of Benue. It succeeds at Eng. Ohieku Muhammed Salami.

Prof. Audu, a distinguished academic and administrator, is a professor of mathematics at the University of Jos. He previously served as Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology of Minna, where he headed transformative initiatives that improved academic and infrastructural development.
