The famous singer, Inetimi Alfred Odom, who everyone knows as Timaya, is talking about how tough times are around the world.
He feels that though people everywhere are facing money troubles, it’s much harder in Nigeria.
Timaya shared his thoughts in a chat with Channels Television.
“Things are really tough for everyone. I care about this because if others are not happy, I can’t be happy either. I spend a lot of money to help people. So, I know how hard life is right now. I’m feeling the struggle, too,” he said.
“The money I need to pay my workers and take care of my family has gone up because everything costs more now.
“You can’t expect life to be easy. Even the people in the government are having a hard time, so imagine how it is for someone like me. The only way things seem easier is if you make money in dollars. When you change dollars to the currency here, the Naira, that’s when you really feel rich.
“In America, too, people are having a difficult time because they also make and spend in dollars. Times are tough everywhere, but it’s the hardest in Nigeria.”
Timaya also talked about how these tough times are affecting musicians and entertainment.
“Right now, it costs a lot to make music popular. In the past, we didn’t worry much about making music videos. If we did make one, it might cost about N1.5 million.
“Now, just making one video costs 100 million, 50 million, or 60 million. And after making it, you need more money to make it famous. This is why paying artists to perform has become more costly,” he shared.
