A stepfather, Christopher Stockton, who murdered the 22 -month -old son of his partner, Charlie, has been imprisoned for life with a minimum term of 25 years.

Stockton had been left alone with Charlie for only 20 minutes, while the girl's mother, Paula Roberts, went out to an eye test on January 12, 2024.

His trial at Teesside Crown Court heard today that Roberts was so worried about Stockton that he had established a spy camera on his son's cradle at his home in Darlington.

Sky News reports that Roberts finally declared himself guilty of a negligence position for not obtaining Charlie's medical treatment for hematomas caused by Stockton for several weeks.

The 41 -year -old woman was later imprisoned for four years.

The sentence, Judge James Goss said that Charlie had difficulty communicating and was particularly vulnerable.

He said that only Stockton, who later tried to affirm that Charlie drowned until the death of a hobby, knew why he inflicted the fatal blow, which caused brain injuries similar to those seen in a car accident.

The judge told Stockton: “You have stolen your family from raising a child and sharing life events with him.

“No court can undo the damage it has caused.”

Meanwhile, Charlie died in the hospital the next day due to the serious head injuries that Stockton inflicted.
