The Yobe State Police command says that its operations have arrested two alleged vandals with energy transmission cables in a significant step to combat vandalism of public property.
The command in a statement through its public relations officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, said the suspects: Yahaya Mustapha 28, and Bello Yakubu 38, both of Takari Ward, Gashu'a Bade Local Government Area, in possession of a large number of transmission of transmission of energy dismantled in the village of Wero, Karasuwa Lga.
“The suspects were caught carrying the cables in a tricycle.
“As the investigation begins, the Division B police headquarters, while it was in the patrol, discovered a hidden electricity service cable in an isolated area of Maisandari Ward, Damaturu, suspects that it was shattered,” he said.
The police command reiterated its commitment to combat crime and vandalism, urging community members to remain attentive and inform suspicious activities or individuals around public properties.
The command also praised citizens for providing credible information, which has helped increase command efforts.
