The Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Iziak Adekunle Salako, has requested the integration of diagnostic services to improve Nigeria's health provision system.
Speaking at the National Diagnostic Summit on Tuesday in Abuja, Salako emphasized the importance of standardized and harmonized diagnostic services at all levels of attention, from primary to tertiary.
The National Diagnostic Summit, “unlocking the health value chains and the improvement of universal health coverage through integrated diagnostic services,” brought together interested parties to discuss the challenges and opportunities in the Nigeria diagnostic scenario.

The Summit was aimed at addressing long -standing challenges in diagnostic services, including fragmentation, inadequate infrastructure and limited access to high quality services.
While talking more, the minister pointed out that a well -integrated diagnosis framework is essential for the provision of efficient, effective and receptive medical care.
He pointed out the challenges that face the diagnostic landscape of Nigeria, including fragmentation, inadequate infrastructure and limited access to high quality services.
Therefore, he reiterated that the integration of diagnostic services is crucial to improve efficiency, eliminate duplication of services and guarantee the optimal use of resources. He also appealed to interested parties to work together to achieve this goal.
“A strong and well coordinated diagnostic system is not only vital for clinical decision making, but also for disease surveillance, health data management and the guarantee of timely interventions.
“The objective should be how to integrate diagnostic services into the broader medical care value chain to improve efficiency, improve patients and reduce long -term medical care costs.
“The presidential initiative to unlock the value chain of medical care is a strategic element of the renewed agenda of hope that has the potential to save currencies, create millions of jobs, reduce the cost of care, reduce outgoing medical tourism and, ultimately, improve the health status of Nigerians and Nigeria's economy.
“The diagnosis, with its recoverable unique cost attribute, has an important role to play on this agenda. Let M, E, challenge all participants in this summit to participate beyond a mere showshop by creating practical and implementable strategies that can help Nigeria become a global center for the manufacture of medical care in the next half decade.

Previously in his welcome speech, the permanent secretary, Daju Kachollom, said that diagnoses are fundamental for the provision of effective medical care, which influence more than 70% of medical decisions.
Kachollom, who was represented by the director of hospital services, Salaudeen Jimoh, said several challenges persist, including the gaps in accessibility and limitations in technology and infrastructure.
He said: “This summit provides a unique opportunity to evaluate our progress, identify obstacles and formulate processable strategies aimed at transforming the diagnostic panorama into Nigeria.
“In the next few days, we will participate in technical presentations, discussions of interactive panels and exhibitions that show avant -garde diagnostic technologies.
“These sessions will not only highlight emerging trends and advances, but also reinforce the critical role of diagnosis in achieving universal health coverage (UHC) and the National Health Security.
