According to reports, a middle -aged man has been killed by a transmission mast that fell on him during a strong downpour in Benin City, Edo State.

Daily Post gathered that the tragic incident occurred on Thursday within Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium. It was learned that the mast collapsed due to the strong winds that accompanied the rain.

The incident interrupted a night of praise planned as part of the activities to mark the governor on Monday of the 100 days of Okpebholo in office.

A source that spoke with journalists identified the deceased as the driver of the decorator responsible for the configuration of the night of praise. According to the source, the man was killed by the mast that fell while trying to save the decoration materials of his employer.

A police officer on the scene, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed that the strong winds made the mast collapse the deceased.

“We all meet at the stadium, hoping that the night of praise will begin when the wind recovered. Unfortunately, the mast fell and killed the man instantly. His head was shattered, it was a bloody view.

“I learned that he was the driver of the person hired to decorate the place. Most people left the stadium after the rain decreased, ”he said.

The efforts to get to the Public Relations officer of the State Police Command, Moses Yamu, for confirmation, were not successful, since he did not respond several calls to his mobile phone.
