Terrorists attack critical national infrastructure – DHQ

Must Read

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) says its intelligence has uncovered plans by Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa (ISWAP) terrorists to attack the country's critical infrastructure.

Director of Defence Media Operations, Edward Buba, a Major General, made this known while briefing journalists on the operations of the armed forces on Thursday in Abuja.

Mr Buba said the military and security agencies responsible for protecting critical infrastructure and facilities had taken steps to prevent attacks.

“We are aware of some of the plans to attack some critical infrastructure in the country.

“We have therefore taken measures to prevent such plans, because some of them have been thwarted,” he said.

Mr. Buba called on citizens to support the military in its fight against terrorists by removing collaborators living among them in their communities.

According to him, these terrorists are the enemy that must be fought and defeated.

He said the troops faced a fierce enemy that was constantly trying to kill citizens.

“In this fight, citizens must understand that we must never compromise on security. Otherwise, the safety of everyone will be put at risk.

“This is a situation that cannot be stressed enough so that we can live in safety and security.

“The military is doing what is necessary by forcing terrorists to pay a price for every act of aggression against the country's citizens.

“We recognize this and have included it as part of our strategy to win the war.

“Overall, we have no choice but to fight for the safety of our citizens, to safeguard our nation and preserve our way of life as a people,” he said.
