The Federal Competence and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has sued Multiche Nigeria Limited and its executive director, John Ugbe, for alleged violations of regulatory directives regarding the increase in GOTV and DSTV subscription prices.
According to the Commission, Multiche has obstructed an ongoing investigation and has participated in activities that violate the Federal Law on Competition and Consumer Protection (FCCPA) 2018.
Tribune Online reports that the FCCPC had ordered Multichoice Nigeria to maintain its current subscription prices until its research on the proposed price increase was completed.
However, despite this directive, Multichouize continued with the increase in the price on March 1, 2025.
In a statement published on Wednesday, the Director of Corporate Affairs of the FCCPC, Ondage IJAGWU, described the actions of Multiche as a “deliberate and calculated attempt to undermine the regulatory authority, interrupt the market equity and deny the Nigerian consumers that the protection provided according to the law.”

The statement says in part: “The Federal Competence and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has formally instituted the legal procedures against Multichoe Nigeria Limited and its executive director, John UGBE, for violating the regulatory directives, obstructing an ongoing investigation and participating in the conduct considered of the federal competence and the Consumer Protection Law (FCCPA) 2018.
“The FCCPC had expressly directed Mulichice Nigeria on February 27, 2025 to maintain its current price structure for DSTV and GOTV awaiting the conclusion of an examination of its proposed price increase.
“However, despite this directive, the company continued with its price increase on March 1, 2025, in a clear challenge to the commission directive.
“After this Filgrado Disregard for regulatory supervision, the FCCPC has presented charges against Multiche Nigeria and John Ugbe in the Federal Superior Court, the Judicial Division of Lagos, for three charges of crimes under the FCCPA 2018, which voluntarily prevents the inherited of the commission for the price of a price that has an opposite price to the directives (section 33 (section 33 (4) Commission delimiting for the investment that has a price that has a price that has the price of obtaining the opposite price (section 33 (4)), preventing the winter of the commission from the commission for the price of the commission.
