Former military president, Ibrahim Babangida, and 78 other “distinguished” personalities will receive the Kogi State Honor Award from outgoing governor Yahaya Bello next week.
The awarding will take place in Lokoja, the state capital, on January 26, according to Folashade Ayoade, secretary to the state government.
Also listed for the honors are the four former civil governors of the state, the late Adamu Atta (former Kwara State, including present-day Kogi), the late Abubakar Audu, Ibrahim Idris and Idris Wada.
Some former military administrators and civilian lieutenant governors, as well as former chief judges of the state, will also be honored.
Others are the late Abu Ali, a popular military colonel killed by Boko Haram insurgents, an industrialist and owner of Max Air, Dahiru Mangal, Bello Adoke, former Minister of Justice, among others.
“His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, CON, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, acting in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Kogi State Honors Awards Act, 2023, has approved the award of State Honors to the aforementioned personalities below in four different ranks of honor. , namely, (1) Grand Confluence Silver Service Star (GCSSS), (2) Confluence Distinguished Silver Service Star (DCSSS), (3) Confluence Merit Silver Service Star (CMSSS), and (4) Confluence Commendation Silver Service Star (CCSSS),” Mrs Ayoade said in a statement.
