The Borno State Police Command has arrested a woman named Lydia Aji, who is 40 years old, for killing her husband with an axe in Kautikari village of Chibok Local Government Area (LGA).
According to ASP Nahum Daso, who works for the police, the fight started because of their 13-year-old daughter, Rachael Aji. She had stolen a goat and sold it to someone they didn’t know.
The father, angry at what their daughter did, told her to leave their home.
However, Lydia did not agree with this and during their argument, she hit her husband with an axe.
ASP Daso explained, “Lydia Aji hit her husband on the head with an axe, and he died instantly.”
“Our investigation showed that the couple had a misunderstanding, and in anger, the father asked his daughter and wife to leave the house. This case is still being looked into,” Daso added.
In another incident, the police arrested Usakahyel Adamu, a 24-year-old man, in Kwaya-Kusar Local Government Area. He is accused of killing his 90-year-old grandfather.
The police spokesman said that after a disagreement, the young man used a hoe to hit his grandfather on the head, killing him instantly.
ASP Daso mentioned that both suspects would be taken to court once the investigations are finished.
The police also captured three people who had Indian hemp and hard drugs with them. Plus, they arrested a group of five people who were stealing public infrastructure. They found stolen solar street light parts and borehole components with these suspects.
In another case, three suspects were caught and paraded for threatening a man. They told him to pay N2 million or they would harm him.
