Simi, a famous Nigerian singer, wants to help parents teach their daughters important life skills.
In a video she shared on Instagram, Simi talks to parents about why it’s important to teach girls how to handle money by themselves instead of waiting for help from others.
She does not like the idea that some moms and dads wish for their daughters to marry rich men. Simi tells parents that it’s better to teach girls to be strong and independent so they don’t have to depend on anyone.
“Parents, help your daughters learn how to take care of themselves so they don’t think they always need someone else to do it for them,” says Simi.
“There is a lot of safety in being able to stand on your own. A woman feels strong and happy when she can look after herself and know she’s enough just the way she is. Teach them they are powerful and complete on their own,” she adds.
