Sen Karimi donates N11 million for rehabilitation of Lokoja fish market cold room

The senator representing Kogi West senatorial district, Senator Sunday Karimi, has again donated another N11 million for the rehabilitation of the Lokoja fish market cold room.

The gesture, according to the senator, is aimed at empowering women to be self-sufficient and said it will allow them to store their goods when necessary.

Recall that the Lokoja Fish Cold Room was built by the late Hon. Buba Jubril, has found itself in a decrepit situation over the years.

Senator Sunday Karimi had in December released the sum of N11 million for its immediate rehabilitation and also for the provision of solar street lights in and around the cold room.

The fish cold room project is being overseen by the stakeholders of the Lokoja local government, under the leadership of Hon. Haruna Isah, former member of the House of Representatives.

The Lokoja fish cold storage project is a project fully funded by Sen Karimi, who assured that he will continue to do everything humanly possible to provide help to the women of Lokoja LGA.

In his statements, the Hon. Haruna said the work is progressing rapidly and expressed the market community's gratitude to Senator Karimi for helping the women.

Similarly, Hajia Ramatu Lami, a fish seller, said that when the cold room is completed it will help preserve her products, describing the gesture as timely and a relief to the women in the market.
