Otunba Bamidele Akingboye is running for governor in Ondo State, and he has some thoughts about past governors of the state. He says they haven’t done a great job, doing well only 20 out of 100 times.
Akingboye said this during a talk with journalists in Ibadan on Friday. He’s from the Social Democratic Party (SDP), and the governor’s election in Ondo will happen on November 16th this year.
He believes that the governors before him didn’t do well in important areas like schools, electricity, factories, and growing the economy. Akingboye wants to fix these problems if he gets elected.
He also assured everyone that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu won’t mess with the election, as people will be watching carefully.
Akingboye noted, “Governors in Ondo State tried their best, but they made a lot of mistakes along the way. They succeeded only 20 percent of the time.
“For example, when we were together with Ekiti State, Ondo was tops in education. But now, it’s not anymore. Our state was also great at producing cocoa.
“Right now, Taraba State is better than us at growing cocoa. That’s where we need to improve. If Taraba can be number one in cocoa today, why is Ondo State only number five?
“Tinubu should not try to change what happens in the election. Everyone is watching. I suggest that he should let things go smoothly.
“The election will be fair and honest. It will happen without problems. Tinubu’s power will not affect the election.”
