The Plateau State Government says 22 people died and 132 got hurt in a school building that fell down in Jos.
According to Musa Ashoms, the Commissioner for Information, six people are really, really hurt.
Ashoms mentioned that the injured people are getting better in different hospitals, and the dead bodies are in the mortuaries.
News reports say that a two-story building at Saints Academy, a school in the Busa-Buji area of Jos North, collapsed. It trapped students, teachers, and others inside.
This sad event happened around 8:30 in the morning on Friday when the students were taking their third term exams.
The Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, called this event a big and sad loss for the state.
He said this in a statement by his Press Director, Mr. Gyang Bere, on Friday in Jos.
The governor felt very sad for the families of all the victims and said this event broke his heart.
“This is so sad and really hard to believe. It’s a very bad situation. We are thankful for the quick help from the search-and-rescue team and the people who ran to the school to help save the students and teachers,” he said.
