Rivers: PDP Governors’ Forum Reiterates Backing for Fubara

Must Read

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum has shown its support for Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State during the current crisis in the PDP in Rivers State.

The Governors promise to talk with the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party about the recent congresses in Rivers State and fix any mistakes. They stressed that Governor Fubara should lead the party in the state.

This promise was made clear in a statement after the forum’s 4th regular meeting at Government House in Jalingo, the capital of Taraba State, on Friday.

In a statement signed by Nelson Chukwudi, who speaks for Governor Fubara, the message was shared by the forum’s Chairman and Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Mohammed.

Mohammed said, “The Forum sees the political problems in Rivers State, where court judgments decide the party congress outcomes.”

The PDP Governors’ Forum says again it supports the Rivers State Governor and will talk with the NWC of our great party to look at the congress and fix the mistakes, allowing Governor Siminalayi Fubara to lead the party in the State as he should.”

The PDP Governors’ Forum also asked the Federal Government to stop blaming others for problems and instead focus on solving the core issues to help Nigerians suffer less.

“The meeting talked about important issues in the party and governance in our states and matters of national interest,” they said.

“The Governors were relieved that the #EndBadGovernance protests, which were close to becoming a big national crisis, have ended.

“We praise the skillful handling of the protests by PDP Governors in their states, avoiding more violence and chaos.

“The Forum insists that peaceful protests are a basic right of citizens to express their real frustrations.

“The Forum feels sorry for families who lost loved ones and asks the Federal Government to ensure a fair and quick trial for those arrested.

“The Forum is unhappy that instead of reviewing policies to make them kinder, the Federal Government is blaming others.

“We ask Mr. President to show leadership by stopping his officials from blaming others, which does not solve the problem.

“We stand firm with suffering Nigerians and will take all legal steps to help them.”
