Rivers Dilemma: Wike Mentors Fubara, Calls it a Political Investment – APC Chairman

Must Read

The head of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Tony Okocha, talked about how Nyesom Wike, who is the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has guided Governor Sim Fubara. He said that without Wike’s support, Fubara wouldn’t be governor today.

Okocha explained this in an interview on Channels Television’s show called Politics Today. He also talked about why Wike and Fubara are having problems with each other.

He said the reason for their fight is because Wike wants to keep his political influence in Rivers State. He doesn’t want Fubara to change things.

Okocha said: “Governor Fubara got his start in politics because of Wike. He went from being a civil servant to running for office in all 23 local governments. This had never happened before, and Wike made it possible.

“Wike told Fubara, ‘I don’t want anything from you, but you are breaking the system that made you.’

“If you are a politician, you don’t want to lose your system. If you do, you have nowhere to go back to. That’s why they are fighting.”

Fubara and Wike are not getting along because they both want to control politics in Rivers State.

Recently, the Court of Appeal in Abuja canceled an order from a Rivers High Court that stopped Martin Amaewhule and 24 others from acting as lawmakers in the State Assembly.

A group of three judges led by Jimi Olukayode-Bada said that only a federal high court can handle such cases.
