PDP Youth Frontiers, a group of young people who support the Peoples Democratic Party, are happy because a big court in Abuja said the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) should stop giving Rivers State its usual money every month.
The DAILY POST had said earlier that the court told the Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, to stop using the money from January 2024 because it wasn’t right. Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, the judge, also said that it wasn’t okay for only four people from the Rivers House of Assembly to see the 2024 budget.
When they heard this, the PDP Youth Frontiers felt hopeful about the courts in Nigeria doing the right thing. They talked to journalists (people who report the news) on Wednesday and said the court’s decision was a good thing. Henry Owolabi, who leads the group, asked that whatever the four Assembly members decided should be changed right away.
He also asked the PDP, their political party, to help fix the problem. They want the right things to be done so that the people in Rivers State don’t have problems because of what the governor did wrong.
He said, “The party should ensure that its members in the state house of assembly work to find wherever money was spent wrongly and ask Governor Fubara to give it back.”
