The Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) has denied an allegation that the NSA, Nuhu Ribadu, helped the dethroned Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, return to Kano on Saturday.

Kano State Deputy Governor Aminu Abdulsalam said Ribadu provided two planes for Ado Bayero’s return to the city at 4.30am on Saturday.

“The National Security Adviser provided two planes to fly the dethroned emir to Kano and take him to the palace,” the deputy governor said.

However, speaking to PREMIUM TIMES, NSA office spokesperson Zakari Mijinyawa said the allegation was false. He said Ribadu did not provide the plane that returned Ado-Bayero to Kano.

He urged politicians to be mindful of their statements as they may jeopardize the efforts of security agencies to maintain peace in the state.

“I read the comments on social media, it’s not true. The NSA did not provide air transportation to anyone to Kano.

“Political actors should desist from misinforming the public while law enforcement officials in the state strive to maintain peace and order,” Mijinyawa said.

Governor Yusuf reinstated Lamido Sanusi, the 14th Emir of Kano, four years after he was removed by the previous Abdullahi Ganduje administration.

Sanusi’s reinstatement came following the repeal of the state’s Emirates Council Law 2019 that created five Emirates councils and five first-class emirs.

The governor subsequently announced Sanusi’s reinstatement on Thursday. But the Federal High Court stopped the state government from implementing the new emirate council law that reinstated Sanusi.

State security agencies also asked parties involved in the crisis to obey the court order and promised to maintain peace and order.
