Reuben Abati promises to pay second bride price to his wife’s family

On Wednesday, prominent journalist Reuben Abati and his wife, Kikelomo Atanda-Owo, celebrated their fourth anniversary.

Abati introduced Kikelomo, CEO and senior consultant of Z-Edge Holdings, as his third wife in 2023.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan’s advisor showed his romantic side when he promised to pay a second bride price to Kikelomo’s family. He wrote on social media platforms: “Today officially marks four years, May 15, Kikelomo Atanda-Owo. Guess what, Kiki! We have to spend an eternity in each other’s arms. On our fifth anniversary next year, I will return to your family to pay another bride price as a renewed symbol of my devotion and dedication to your happiness.

“I may have a million truths to prove to you, but I need a lifetime to do it. Keep being yourself, Kiki. As I tell you every day, I love you, Kiki! Let’s drink to us, my wife.”

Abati praised his wife, the main host of RealTalkWithKike, a live radio and television talk show on Inspiration FM and Silverbird TV, for her resilience and possession of unparalleled determination.

The 58-year-old noted that despite the host’s mischievous side, her positivity and kindness shine through.

“We had three misunderstandings in four years and they were all handled well. Your enterprising nature, your hard work and your lovable spirit make you really special, although sometimes overconfident,” he said.

The former chairman of the editorial board of The Guardian newspaper said that he married the student of Igbinedion University, Benin, not only imagining a future with her but seeing much more.

The University of Calabar student described Kikelomo as his conscious choice, world of longing, closest companion on earth, owner of his heart and refuge.

“You are my do or die, and I am 100% loyal to you. I gave my word to your dad and I will keep it until the end of my time! Kiki, you made your decision against many odds and I am always willing to take a million steps against those odds.”

“This first slide is our first official intimate image in which we were both aware of our journey from working collaboratively to accepting my proposal and living in our purpose. Adorning her precious finger with that engagement ring that night reshaped my world into another existence of possibilities,” Abati noted.

She said her marriage to Kikelomo brought balance to her life and had been a source of significant healing.
