The Federal Ministry of Works has announced the next closure of the Independence Bridge in Lagos for rehabilitation for a period of 10 weeks.
According to the federal works controller in Lagos, Engr. (Mrs.) Olukorede Kesha, the closure will begin on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, and is expected to be completed before May 31, 2025.
The controller emphasized that this closure is essential to facilitate important maintenance and rehabilitation work on the bridge.
She said: “The closure will affect the traffic that travels from Ahmadu Bello Way and Decola Odeku to Marina, Eko Bridge and Onikan in zone 2.
“The Independence Bridge will remain closed until the end of May 2025 for repairs.”
Keisha called the motorists to plan their trips accordingly and look for alternative routes.
“The Federal Ministry of Labor apologizes for any inconvenience that this closure can cause and appreciate the understanding and cooperation of the public as we strive to guarantee the safety and stability of our road infrastructure,” he said.
