Olori Ashley, the fourth wife of the Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has sparked a wave of reactions on social media by declaring her son the ‘Crown Prince’ to the throne of Oduduwa.
The royal couple, who are set to marry on October 15, 2022, welcomed their son nearly six months after the monarch's third and youngest wife, Olori Tobi, announced the birth of twins.
Olori Ashley, who revealed that her son was born at the Princess Royal Hospital in London, UK, has come under fire for an Instagram post that critics believe is a subtle dig at the other queens.
His explanation that his son is a prince from the maternal side of the royal compound of Ooni Adagba of the ruling house of Lafogido and also a prince from the paternal side of the royal compound of Ooni Agbedegbede of the ruling house of Giesi is not enough to appease his critics.
Still, the post sparked a wave of reactions on social media, with many users criticising her for declaring her son crown prince when the monarch already has two children, Tadenikawo from the Ooni's estranged wife, Naomi, and Oreade from Olori Tobi.

It all started last Tuesday when the Ooni made the announcement on his official Instagram page, posting a photo of himself and the new mother with the caption: “Ooniadimulaife To God be the glory for the great things you have done. Heartfelt congratulations to the entire House of Oduduwa and Olori Folashade who today gave birth to a Prince from the maternal side of Ooni Adagba Royal Compound of the Lafogido ruling House and from the paternal side of Ooni Agbedegbede Royal Compound of the Giesi ruling House combined for the royal throne of Oduduwa.”
Ooni’s fourth wife, Olori Ashley, followed suit and stated: “To God be the glory, great things he has done for my husband and I. I am happy to re-announce with my husband Ooniadimulaife the birth of our lovely and prestigious royal son on the throne of our ancestors, our CROWN PRINCE from the fountain of Oodua. Whom we were blessed with and was born into this world today on the 3rd of September 2024 at the Princess Royal Hospital in London, United Kingdom. Despite haters trying to get in our relationship for about a decade, Olodumare has remained faithful in our lives.”

Olori Ashley claimed that the royal throne of Oduduwa in Ile-Ife resulted from the union of the two houses.
She wrote: “To my amazing PA @obanewo_ thank you for supporting me in every matter during the last few months of preparing our prestigious CROWN PRINCE from both sides of his parents @ooniadimulaife “A Prince from the maternal side of the Ooni Adagba royal compound of the Lafogido ruling house and a Prince from the paternal side of the Ooni Agbedegbede royal compound of the Giesi ruling house combined for the royal throne of Oduduwa.”
The naming ceremony of her son was held on Tuesday at the Ooni's palace in Ile Ife, Osun State, with the presence of the other queens, namely Olori Tobi, Olori Mariam, Olori Temitope and Olori Ronke.
