Sheikh Musa Onogu, an Islamic scholar based in Kogi Central Senatorial District, lamented the way parents have abandoned their responsibilities towards their children, saying the resulting effects are the current vices among the youth.

Sheikh Onogu stated this on Wednesday during the annual Moulid Nabiy organized by the Idrisiyya Okene Islamic School, Kogi State, to celebrate the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

The Islamic scholar said that many Muslim parents have spent much of their time and energy in pursuing worldly things and forgot to educate their children in divine and Islamic customs, and emphasized that if nothing is done urgently to correct the anomalies, The time will come when it will be difficult to live in society due to the nefarious and godless behavior of some young people.

“It is discouraging that parents no longer control the activities of their children and their wards. Nowadays, some children get involved in illegal activities like yahoo-yahoo, drug addiction, prostitutes and other social vices, but their parents do not feel worried.

“We must keep in mind that you have questions to answer before God on the day of resurrection about how you raise your child as a father because it is always in the prayers of every man and woman to marry and have children,” he said. saying.

Talking more about the way some people live their lives, the scholar said that human beings these days have really strayed from the words of God, hence the reason for the current precarious situations that the world is going through recently. .

“Human beings have rejected the words of God and no longer fear God. Despite the teachings of the holy books, people still preferred to follow the wrong path, the path that may earn them the wrath of God in the future.

“Muslims should rethink and return to the teachings of Islam. The end times are closer as the signs have gradually begun to manifest because strange things that did not happen before are now the order of the day. Nowadays it is common to kill other human beings for mundane things, even among young people.

“I take this occasion to appeal to our Muslim brothers and sisters to take their daily prayers seriously and prepare properly so that we can enjoy God's favor on this earth and in the future, as no one knows when he will die,” he advised.

Also in his sermon, another Islamic scholar, Eng. Suleiman Ovurevu, described the Holy Prophet Muhammad as a gift from God Almighty to the entire world, noting that as a model for all Muslims, he has become imperative and obligatory for the entire world. Muslim Umma educate their children in the virtues and works of the prophet. .

According to him, the Quran describes one who refuses to accept the Holy Prophet (sa) as the worst animal who will not enjoy the favor of God both in this world and in the future and calls on Muslims to follow the teachings of Islam exemplified by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). .

In his concluding remarks, Alhaji Muktar Idris, one of the sons of the initiator of the Idrisiyya Islamic School, said that the Islamic School established in 1985 had graduated more than 1,000 students in Quranic studies.

“We are happy that today Idrisiyya Islamic School is growing by leaps and bounds as the number of people who graced our 2024 annual program exceeds last year and by the special grace of God, we, the children of the school's initiator , we will continue to sustain the program as our small way of propagating Islam.

“We sincerely thank you all for coming both physically and spiritually. May Allah ta'ala never lower us from the love of our noble Prophet Muhammad (PBUH),” he said.
