The new Customs Comptroller, the Kebbi state area command, Mr. Chidi Chukwumeziri Nwokorie, has asked merchants who operate along the border corridor of the Kebbi state to the transition of being simple interested to become 'bets' in the promotion of legitimate trade, in line with the vision of the vision of the general purchase of customs.
Speaking during her teacher Press report at Birnin Kebbi during the weekend, Nwokorie praised her team of officers for her commitment and dedication, which, according to him, led to arrests and significant seizures and culminated in the generation of a remarkable N102.17 million in income within a month of assuming the position.
“Exactly 42 days ago today I assumed the leadership of this command. That day, I promised to improve income generation and collection, support legitimate trade and address smuggling with all reasonable means,” he said.
He assured the genuine merchants of continuous support and facilitation, pointing out: “For those in legitimate trades and businesses, you really have a friend and supporter in me. We are here to support each genuine business, as we have demonstrated in recent weeks.”
Nwokorie urged merchants and interested parties to make the most of the opportunities provided by current customs leadership. “I encourage all our stakeholders and legitimate merchants to make the most of the opportunities provided by the Comptroller General to advance and improve their businesses. He wants to raise them all to the 'Esterators' instead of only to the interested parties,” he said.

In the generation of income, the Customs Chief said that despite the challenges raised by the closure of the main border position in Samiya/Segbana, leaving only the border operation of Kamba, the command has managed to stay afloat. He revealed that the command generated N13,378,002 in a month, a slight improvement compared to the previous periods.
Highlighting the recent stresses to apply the command, Nwokorie revealed that the seizures made in recent weeks included 145 second -hand clothing bullets, 13,750 liters of gasoline, 114 rice bags with foreign sarcuminate (50 kg each) and 20 foreign cigarette cartons.
Other intercepted items included 70 packages of vanilla wafers Biggy Biggy expired, 27 dried batteries of the defeated subway (AA) and 40 strange sugar bags (50 kg each), among other smuggling.
