The Peoples Democratic Party (also called PDP) announced that the All Progressives Congress (called APC) and their candidate, Monday Okpebholo, cannot take part in the upcoming September 21, 2024, Edo State Governorship election.
The PDP said this is because they found out that the APC’s candidate is not a registered voter.
Their discovery came after checking the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) website.
The PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, said this in a statement on Friday in Abuja.
“The shocking discovery that the APC candidate might have used a fake voter card when filling out Form EC9 for INEC is a big mistake. This problem means the APC and its candidate might not be able to compete in the 2024 Edo State Governorship election,” Ologunagba explained.
“It is surprising that the APC would choose a candidate with possibly fake documents for an election in Edo State, where people are well known for being honest and highly respected,” he added.
“Furthermore, this explains why the APC gave INEC a voter card photo of their candidate that was blurry and hard to read, and why the APC has not said anything since finding out that the voter card might be fake,” Ologunagba said.
