President Tinubu Revamps Cabinet and Consolidates Ministries

Must Read

President Bola Tinubu has made changes to his group of ministers and combined two ministries into one.

This happened during a meeting called the Federal Executive Council (FEC) on Wednesday. Bayo Onanuga, who speaks for the president, shared this news.

Onanuga said President Tinubu has closed down the Niger Delta Ministry and the Ministry of Sports Development.

He also said that Tinubu has joined the Ministry of Tourism with the Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy.

“President Tinubu and the Federal Executive Council have decided to get rid of the Niger Delta Ministry and the Ministry of Sports Development.

“Now, there will be a new Ministry of Regional Development to manage all the area’s growth commissions, like the Niger Delta Development Commission and others in different parts of the country.

“The National Sports Commission will now do what the Ministry of Sports used to do.

The FEC also agreed to the merging of the Ministry of Tourism with the Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy,” Onanuga explained.

Background

People have been asking President Tinubu to make changes because some ministers were not doing their jobs well.

Last month, Onanuga said that these changes were coming.

In a meeting with the press at the State House in Abuja, Onanuga mentioned that even though much hard work was being done, people still did not know about the government’s successes.

He said, “The President wants to change his team of ministers, and he will do it. I’m not sure if it will be done before October 1, but he will surely do it. That’s all I know for now since there’s no specific date given.”

Talking about how the government is doing, Onanuga added, “At the last big meeting, the President told all ministers to talk more about what they are doing to help the country.

“Some have been shy, not going on TV or radio to speak. The President wants them to change this and let people know their efforts.

“People think the government is not doing enough, but actually, it is doing a lot. It is their job to go out and share these achievements. They should go out and tell the world about the work their ministries are doing.”
